About Our Regional Grants
Forest Foundation makes grants to new and emerging non-profits in Greater Boston, Massachusetts and is by invitation only. We support small social service agencies delivering critical need to under-resourced communities with a focus on youth and families.
Giving Guidelines
- Recipients must be non profit organizations (501(c)3, or fiscal agency agreement)
- Recipient organizations must have a budget of $500,000 or less
- Capital campaigns and endowments are not funded
- Grants will be considered for operating costs and special projects
- Grants must be given directly to the community service organization, not through intermediaries
- Fiscal agents will be considered on a case by case decision and no fees can be taken by fiscal agency
- Recipient organizations must limit their governmental funding sources to 50% or less of total budget
- A site visit is made to all organizations and agencies applying for funds
- Grant proposals are by invitation only
- A letter of inquiry or email describing your program is certainly welcome and we will contact you if there is further interest
How to Apply
- After the proposal invitation, please use our online application form and submit all requested materials. The Request for Funding Form must be submitted online to Forest Foundation. Additionally, a copy of your 501(c)3 (or fiscal agency agreement), Board list, previous year financial statement, and current year’s budget and actual must be mailed (or emailed to [email protected]) to Forest Foundation, P.O. Box 112, Boxford, MA 01921 with the appropriate accompanying materials. Please send as much materials electronically as possible.
- Review our Mission Statement and Giving Guidelines before submitting your proposal
- Forest Foundation generally makes grants in the range of $2,000-$8,000
- Forest Foundation favors proposals that reflect collaboration with similar non-profits and that indicate diverse funding efforts in the match and/or challenge grant capacity
- Please limit supporting materials to absolutely necessary materials. Videos, newsletters, binders, and annual reports are unnecessary additions
- If you are awarded a grant, an Assessment Form must be submitted nine months from the receipt of funds
